Here they are on their first day of school. Ethan was feeling like such a BIG boy. He chose his outfit. It wouldn't have been my first choice but you know how they are at this age.....so independent!!

First day of School
Last week was our first week of school. However, it definitely didn't go as planned. Lucy and Andy woke up on the first day of school throwing up. Fun! Fun! Fun! We thought she was better by the next day but apparently not because she stayed home the rest of the week sleeping next to her barf bowl! Ethan did make it to his first week of preschool. However, it also did not go as planned. Unfortunately there were some misunderstandings in regards to his diabetes care and we have spent the last 2 weeks working through some things so he can continue to go to preschool. Although we were off to a rough start things are looking up and both kids seem excited about being in school. Ethan is bugged that he can't ride the bus yet. I keep telling him just one more year.

Ethan is so excited about school he needed his picture taken 2 days in a row!! I had to break it to him that we weren't going to be taking pictures each day before leaving for school!
Lucy showing off her "cool" backpack. Funny how it is almost as big as she is!!
She loves riding the bus! I was heading out the door her first day back to school to go pick her up at the bus stop. It was her teacher on the phone telling me there had been a problem. She had Lucy with her who insisted she was to be on the bus going home but the teacher had her on the list of "walkers". Good thing our shy Lucy spoke up because that would have been a VERY long walk home! She is definitely not in walking distance! Luckily a friend from church happened to be at school and heard what was going on and offered to bring Lucy home.

I love you kids! They are so cute and growing up so fast. It has been forever since we have seen you and your family. We didn't have Brady yet so it has been 4 years!
It is nice to see your family and how fast they are growing.
I created a new blog to replace Bryce's non-existent one. I hope to keep in contact better with everyone!
Oh, no, not the barfies! Poor Lucy. Rachel would love Lucy's backpack. Our school has a no backpack rule for kindergartener's. They did give all the kids a lovely tote bag with shameless advertising on it. We have to wait till next year for a cool Hello Kitty one.
Hope you made some delicious cookies after the barf bowl was cleaned:)
grace would LOVE lucy's backpack. she is completely obsessed with hello kitty these days. thats too bad she was sick the first week!
i'm impressed that she spoke up, too. and don't you think the teacher should have called to clarify BEFORE the bus left? the bus is ethan's favorite part of school i think. (although the morning bus takes too long according to him -- you know because it's a whole NINE minutes from his stop to arrival at school).
Hopefully you are done with the sickness for a while....that is the worst, not to mention for the first week of school!!! I just love seeing pics of your kids....I could handle seeing a daily pic of Ethan!!! It sounds like Jared....he is constantly wanting me to video tape him just playing with cars, etc.
What a wonderful experience your family is going to have year after year with the walk. They will certainly learn to be sensitive, very compassionate, and very accepting of others. There are many things in life you wouldn't ask for, but usually our afflictions are what builds character and makes us who we are!
Darling school pictures! By the way...I recently read how important it is to let your children make as many decisions as they can on their own so they will have the skills as they become older to know how to make good, important decisions with confidence. Dressing oneself was one of the examples. Good for you to allow him to decided, even though that would not have been your first choice. I think I was a little more controlling in that area. Darn! Not sure I did much right! You kids turned out in spite of me! :) Love ya, Mom
